Gary Waugh is a strategic business growth consultant with deep expertise in financial services, digital marketing, and capital readiness. Known for helping professional service firms and community-based ventures get fundable, access growth capital, and scale with clarity, Gary brings a practical, systems-driven approach to business transformation.

His entrepreneurial journey began with inspiration from his father, a hard-working business owner whose enterprise was ultimately derailed by the lack of proper structure and exit planning after being diagnosed with a serious health condition that rendered him unable to work any longer. That experience shaped Gary’s lifelong commitment to helping entrepreneurs build businesses that are sustainable, scalable, and ultimately transferable—whether for exit, succession, or long-term income.

Gary's career reflects a consistent focus on business growth and financial capability. Starting in financial services at Bank One in 1997, he broadened his expertise to include healthcare billing, retirement planning, and financial advising. Recognizing the evolving importance of online presence, he transitioned to digital marketing in 2010, helping small businesses build their brands. This experience highlighted the critical link between marketing, business structure and access to capital, leading him to become a business funding broker and consultant in 2017. Today, he specializes in helping businesses become "fundable by design," supporting professional service firms, small and mid-sized businesses, and nonprofits in achieving sustainable growth.

Over the years, Gary has worked on projects with Maryland state government offices, Comcast Business, Alnylam Pharmaceuticals, Quaint Oak Bank (Philadelphia office), and federal agencies such as the GSA and VA, as well as partnering with financial organizations including Credit Suite, NAV, Dun & Bradstreet, ROK Financial, Prime Corporate Services, Transamerica, Allianz Life, New York Life, American Benefits Exchange, and several banks in the Midwest and on the East Coast, supporting businesses across multiple regions and industries.

Currently, Gary is focused on developing and scaling a portfolio of recession-resistant businesses through both new ventures and acquisitions. His long-term vision is to create value and predictable income for economically and socially disadvantaged enterprises, with a specific focus on SBA 8(a) businesses. He also serves as Director of Business Development for the Health Empowerment Network of Maryland, a 501(c)3 non-profit, working to expand healthcare access in underserved communities across D.C. & Maryland.

A member of the Black Executive Men Community, Gary is committed to mentorship and leadership development. He partners with organizations in Ohio, the Midwest, Maryland/D.C., and Philadelphia to drive economic development through entrepreneurship and investment, helping founders build structured, scalable, and fundable businesses.

Gary holds multiple certifications in business consulting, marketing, and funding, and has held licenses in insurance and financial services. His practical, impact-driven approach makes him a trusted advisor to founders, nonprofits, and ecosystem builders.
